The town of BONIKOWO is located at 52N Latitude and 16E Longitude.

BONIKOWO: Village situated on the Koscian Plain. It's in northwest Poland. One of the best known early Middle Ages Cities (8th-10th century). Established as the result of reconstruction of the 6th century town. At the beginning the area of it was 2.5 hectares (6.2 acres) and was surrounded 8 meter (8.75 yard) wide moat. Completely destroyed in the 10th century because that region was annexed to the country of the tribe which was called POLANIE.

While using MapQuest to locate the city of BONIKOWO, I stumbled upon another city that might be the original home of the Bonikowski's. It is called: BONIKOW (RED Circle in bottom right-hand corner of first map and the RED Star in the second map above). 

The town of BONIKOW is located at 51N Latitude and 17E Longitude.

These two cities are not that far apart and may account for the different branches of the family I've found in the USA without an apparent direct link. I have asked Maria to look into this other city for me, and I will post any information she finds.
